It only exist in fiction books

The bus journey home was like any other day. She sat at her usual favourite spot by the window. She has a thing for long bus rides.

Like always, she would look out the window and see the world passed by. It was the same route she sees everyday but it was always a different sight. What interest her more, was the sky. She has always and will always love the sky. The evening sky was beautiful. White clouds over the orange sky. It was a sight in this bustling city.

It got boring after a while and her eyelids felt heavy. That's what after a whole day of school does to someone. Same old peak hours rush madness but all she could her was the music blasting through her earphones. Her playlist lullabies her to a light slumber. With the constant jerking of the bus, she found herself jolting from her sleep every few minutes. Even so, she succumbed to her fatigue once again within the next second.

Her destination was drawing near. She stirred in her sleep feeling the sudden shift in weight in the seat next to her. It has always been a habit of hers to look at strangers sitting next to her. Opening her eyes slowly, feeling as though she just woken from a deep slumber. She could feel the stranger adjusting in the seat. Through the cracks of her still half closed lids, there she saw his face.

Smiling sweetly at her.

She couldn't help it but return the gesture before returning to rest her head by the window. She found herself to be wide awake this time. All traces of fatigue she felt before, gone. Just like that. Then again, she didn't think she needed it. The next stop is where she was alighting.

Excuse me.

She needed to alight and she needed the space. She got up from her favourite spot, all ready to get home. Lifting himself from his seat, making space for her and his hands gestured the way out. Passing by him, she lifted her eyes to meet his.

Thank you.

No problem.

And again, he smiled that smile of his.

It was a simple gesture. A smile. One of that from a stranger and that got her smiling the way home. It was a simple gesture that definitely made her day.
